THE PRINCIPAL'S POST

One of the challenges we face in middle school is helping students understand the importance of effort, responsibility, and taking pride in their work. Sometimes it feels like students simply don't care about their grades, assignments, or the choices they make.

But I often wonder, do they really not care, or have they just not figured out why they should?

Middle school is a time of growth, and our students are still learning that their choices and effort matter. As educators, we can encourage, support, and hold students accountable, but we need our families working alongside us.

I encourage you to have conversations at home about effort, responsibility, and doing your best, even when something isn't easy or enjoyable. Check grades, ask questions, and remind your student that their education matters.

We don't expect perfection, but we do expect effort. Together, we can help our students understand that showing up, trying their best, and taking responsibility are habits that will carry them far beyond middle school.

Growth Mindset: The Power of “Yet”

When students say “I'm bad at this,” encourage them to add one word: “yet.” This small shift reminds students that skills are built through effort and practice.

Try this at home: Model it yourself: “I don't know how to do this yet” normalizes struggle as part of learning.

7th & 8th GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL

We are starting to plan for the upcoming basketball season. Any 7/8 grade girls planning to play this year, please be sure you are signed up in Final Forms, or see Mrs. Shutt to express your interest or to make sure you are signed up.
