Looking at Progress Book With Your Student
Progress Book is most useful as a conversation starter, not a verdict. Ask your student to walk you through their grades and identify one class where they feel proud and one where they would like to make a goal to improve.
As you are looking at Progress Book it is important to look at student assignments by Type rather than Date. By selecting Type you are able to see the breakdown of Assessments, Classwork and Participation. Please note that students' grades are weighted by each type. Assessments are 60 percent, Classwork is 30 percent and Participation is 10 percent of each grade.
Try this at home: Focus questions on effort and next steps: “What's your plan for that grade?” rather than just the number itself.

ARCHERY CLUB
Waynedale Archery Club has officially begun and is inviting area families to join! This is led by long time Southeast Local physical education teacher and archery instructor Chad Lorentz. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at John R Lea gymnasium from 5:00-7:00 PM (9130 Dover Road, Apple Creek, OH 44606). Parents and students are welcome! All equipment is provided, just complete the google form to register.

Art Club is next Tuesday after school from 2:30-3:30. Permission slips are on the table outside Mrs. Burnett’s office. Turn in the slip to Ms. Winkler room 112.

Knitting and Crochet Club starts NEXT Thursday, October 8th! If you plan to join please turn in your permission slip to Mrs. Burnett.

It’s time to sign up for Biddy Ball! 6th grade boys that want to play Biddy basketball can grab a paper outside Mrs. Shutt’s office.

We are starting to plan for the upcoming basketball season. Any 7/8 grade girls planning to play this year, please be sure you are signed up in Final Forms, or see Mrs. Shutt to express your interest or to make sure you are signed up.
