The Principal’s Post

One important reminder as we work our way through the school year: please don’t assume that we see or hear everything that happens at school.

Our staff works hard to supervise students, support them, and address concerns when they are brought to our attention. However, we cannot address something we do not know about. There are many moments throughout the school day when students may experience a situation that an adult does not see or hear.

If your child comes home and shares a concern, please reach out to us. It does not mean we are ignoring the situation—it may simply mean that we were not aware it happened. Once we know, we can ask questions, gather information, and determine the appropriate next steps.

We want our students to know that adults at school are here to help, and we want families to feel comfortable communicating with us. When we work together and share information, we have a much better opportunity to support our students and address concerns.

Thank you for partnering with us and trusting us to care for your children each day.

GMS SCHOOL COUNSELOR CORNER

Healthy Choices & Decision-Making

As students gain independence, they'll face more decisions on their own — about friendships, honesty, and peer pressure. Talking openly now builds trust for bigger conversations later.

Try this at home: Practice a simple decision-making question together: “Will this be okay in an hour, a day, and a year?”
