Principal’s Note

The first week of school has been wonderful! 💚

It has been so great to see our students arrive each morning ready to learn, settle into their classrooms, and engage in their lessons. I’ve also loved spending time with them during lunch, recess, and in the hallways. Their energy and excitement have made this one of our best starts to a school year!

Thank you for helping prepare your students for a successful school year. Your support and partnership truly make a difference!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Regular attendance is as important to your student’s school career as the foundation is to a house.  Without it, there is nothing to build on.  Here is why being present and on time, every day, is so important:

  • School attendance is required.

  • Missing school affects grades.

    • Students who miss school regularly are more likely to fall behind, struggle to keep up, and experience lower academic achievement.

  • School is where students build friendships and learn to collaborate.

    • Consistent attendance allows them to participate fully and develop a sense of belonging and connection.

IMPORTANT BACK-TO-SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION NOTICE

Per Ohio law, students entering the 7th and 12th grades must have updated vaccination records or an official exemption form on file by the 14th day of school to avoid exclusion from classes.

7th Grade Requirements:

  • Tdap: 1 dose required before the school year begins.

  • Meningococcal: 1 dose required before the school year begins.

SMITHIE INVITE KIDS FUN RUN

Come join the Smithville Cross Country teams for the Smithie Invite Kids Fun Run!  This free fun run for kids up through 6th grade will be approximately one mile and will take place at the start of the Smithie Invite on Tuesday, September 8th at 4pm at Wayne College.  High School and middle school races will follow the Kids Fun Run.  No registration required.  Questions?  Contact Coach Carr at gren_jcarr@tccsa.net.
